Valve selection guide
A structured list of information for identification and selection.
A cartridge valve forms part of a circuit. Selection requires checking flow paths, the default state, operating conditions and the manifold cavity.
| Task | What to establish | Next step |
|---|---|---|
| Switching or changing direction | Port connections, the de-energised state, actuation method and permissible leakage. | Example SV08 designations |
| Pressure control | Whether the circuit requires a relief, reducing, reducing/relieving or sequence valve; the effect of pressure at the outlet. | Information needed for selection |
| Flow control | Fixed or variable flow, controlled direction, compensation and required response to load changes. | Example PV70 versions |
| Flow division or logic function | Operating conditions in both branches, loads, pilot control and transient behaviour. | Describe circuit operation |
| Proportional control | Valve characteristics and a compatible coil, current control and the parameters of the specific controller. | Selecting the electrical components |
The family designation helps locate the relevant documentation. Ordering and verification require the complete code: the version, seals, range or setting and control components can change the part’s properties.
For example, PV70-30A-0-N-0 and PV70-30AG-0-N-0 appear separately in our index. A search result does not confirm that they are interchangeable.
Compare the cavity designation, depths, diameters, port positions and sealing surfaces with the manufacturer’s documentation. For a replacement, we need a photo of the designation and, where necessary, a cavity drawing or manifold documentation.
HydraForce and Bosch Rexroth being part of the same corporate group does not make HydraForce and Oil Control valves automatically interchangeable. Each proposed replacement requires a separate comparison of function, cavity and parameters.
