How to select a HydraForce cartridge valve

The complete code and circuit diagram are the quickest route to identifying the right part. If the marking is illegible, the valve's function in the system must be established.

1. Record the complete designation

Copy the entire code, including letters, suffixes, dots and slashes. Photograph the valve marking and the coil separately. If several parts look identical, identify where each photograph belongs on the circuit diagram.

The finder ignores spaces and hyphens to help locate a designation. Other code characters are preserved; finding a similar name does not confirm interchangeability.

2. Check the function and port connections

Establish which passages should connect at rest and when actuated. Determine whether the valve switches flow, regulates flow, limits pressure or performs a logic function. Mark flow direction and available pilot pressure.

3. Gather operating conditions

  • Operating and possible peak pressure at each port.
  • Required actuator flow and allowable pressure drop.
  • Fluid, temperature range and seal requirements.
  • Duty cycle and required behaviour following loss of power.

4. Confirm the cavity and mounting

Do not select a part by thread diameter alone. The cavity drawing also specifies depths, diameters and port positions. If documentation for the original manifold is unavailable, its designation, circuit and measurements taken by a suitably qualified person can help.

5. Compare documentation for the specific version

The manufacturer's datasheet for the SV08-20 family is an example starting point: use the valve function and data to identify the appropriate version, cavity and accessories. Ordering requires the full designation, not just the family name.

6. Agree the scope of supply

Confirm whether the order covers the valve cartridge, coil, housing or complete assembly. Check the setting, connector and required mounting items. Obtain installation torque from the documentation for the correct valve and accessories.

Missing some information? Send what you have established and identify the unknowns. A component photograph without its functional context is usually insufficient for reliable selection.
